Version History
Every change is tracked. Roll back to any previous version with one click.
How versioning works
Every time an asset is modified, a new version is saved. This happens automatically when you process an image with an AI tool, upload a replacement file, or edit metadata. The current version is always the one shown in the library. All previous versions are preserved and accessible.
Viewing version history
Open an asset and click the "Versions" tab in the details panel. You will see a timeline of every version with the date, what changed, and who made the change. Each entry shows a thumbnail so you can quickly spot visual differences.
Uploading a new version
To replace an asset with an updated file, open it and click "Upload new version". Drag in the new file or browse to select it. The new file takes over as the current version. The previous file is saved as a version you can restore later.
The new version inherits all tags, metadata, and collection memberships from the previous version. You do not need to re-tag or re-organize anything.
Restoring a previous version
Find the version you want in the history timeline and click "Restore". The restored version becomes the new current version. The version you were on before is preserved too. Restoring never destroys anything. It just adds a new entry to the timeline.
This is especially useful after AI processing. If you ran background removal and do not like the result, restore the original in one click and try again with different settings.
Side-by-side comparison
Select any two versions and click "Compare" to see them side by side. The comparison view lets you pan and zoom both images in sync. You can also toggle an overlay mode that fades between the two versions, making subtle differences easy to spot.
Comparison works for all image formats. For videos, it shows the first frame of each version.
Version details
Each version entry shows the file size, dimensions, format, and how it was created. You will see labels like "Uploaded", "Background removal", or "Upscale 2x" so you know exactly what happened at each step.
Storage and retention
All versions count toward your storage quota. If you need to free up space, you can delete specific old versions from the history. Deleting a version is permanent. The current version cannot be deleted. You must upload a replacement first.
